Neo Financial

Job description

At Neo, we empower people to get the most out of their money and time. We’re a tech company reimagining everyday banking from the ground up to create rewarding experiences and build community for all Canadians. We’re looking for passionate go-getters who want to move fast and create a lasting impact.
Neo Financial is looking for an intern to join our engineering organization in Calgary or Remote. This internship is open to post-secondary students, currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program and who are returning to full-time or part-time studies in Fall 2021.
As a Squad Technical Analyst Intern, you’ll work on two teams: the engineering quality team and an engineering product team. You won’t be treated like an intern on our team though! You’ll get full-time employee job experience and similar opportunities for exciting work.

What you’ll be doing:

    • Working on a candid but friendly team with bright and ambitious software engineers, product owners, and designers
    • Learning how a hyperscale startup works and contributing to our business goals
    • Uncovering existing and future problems with our web, Android, and iOS apps, and the backend software that powers our bank
    • Carefully communicating the problems you uncover so they can be prioritized
    • Finding out why those problems happened in the first place and as you grow in the role, fixing some of the problems
    • Attending short daily meetings to keep you organized with the day’s current priorities

Who we’re looking for:

    • Pursuing an undergraduate degree and currently enrolled as a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th-year student
    • A startup work ethic
    • An eye for detail and the heart for quality
    • An attitude of going out of your way to help and teach those around you
    • Obsessed with delighting our customers and stakeholders
    • Programming skills (we’ll assess interns with a Leetcode Easy problem)
    • Testing skills (we’ll assess interns with an objective testing problem)
    • An aptitude for puzzle solving and/or engineering work
    • Effective communication skills

What will help you succeed:

    • Familiarity with the Linux command line / bash
    • Experience pushing commits to GitHub
    • Ability to gain your co-workers’ trust
    • Comfortable asking questions to senior team members

Quotes from your predecessors:

    • “It feels like working in a sports team instead of with colleagues. You can always trust your teammates and they will have your back.”- Jody, Waterloo Honours Mathematics 2025
What it’s like to work with us:
At Neo, you’ll be working with industry-leading technology that changes the way we live and realize a better financial future. It’s a serious deal, but that doesn’t mean we don’t know a thing or two about having fun. Our entrepreneurial environment gets our adrenaline pumping and beats the regular 9-5 job. We’re in it together, always. Gain hands-on experience and be part of the future.
Neo Financial is an equal opportunity employer. We are excited to meet with and hire the top talent out there. We appreciate your interest in working with us; however, only those applicants selected for interviews will be contacted. Successful candidates for this position will be required to undergo a security screening, including a criminal records check and may require a credit check.
