Reporting to the Specialist, Sustainability Reporting, the Sustainability Co-op will support and assist Teck’s Sustainability Reporting team by undertaking activities that help advance the company’s sustainability reporting objectives throughout the term.

Successful candidates will have the following responsibilities and qualifications:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Assist in writing, editing, data collection, and research for the development and production of Teck’s Sustainability Report
  • Assist in researching and initial drafting of sustainability content for external and internal audiences, including case studies, articles and reports
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other departments and teams to complete relevant tasks
  • Support various sustainability and ESG reporting improvement initiatives, including conducting research on broad sustainability trends, emerging best practices, and peer comparisons
  • Support the Sustainability Reporting and ESG Communications team in the delivery of projects and tasks as required. Typical tasks of this nature may include ad hoc presentations, briefings, file and contact management etc.
  • 2nd or 3rd year co-op student currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Communications/Business with an interest in Sustainability or a related field of study
  • Interest in business sustainability or corporate responsibility
  • Strong communication skills – high level of interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • A results-oriented individual who has exceptional organizational, research, and planning skills
  • A detail-oriented individual with strong data input and management skills
  • A team player – embraces collaborative sharing of knowledge within a cooperative environment
  • Comprehension of best practices in sustainability reporting is an asset, but not required
