Our growing company is searching for top talent to join our team in the role of Pork Production & Quality Research Co-op Student from May – August 2021 located in the community of La Broquerie. This position reports to the Integrated Pork Quality Specialist.

Your days will include:

  • Aiding the research and development team in weighing and tagging pigs for ongoing trials in Sow, Nursery and finishing barn.
  • Data entry of research findings
  • Assisting in preparing for carcass evaluations
  • Assisting in barn data collection for live animal prediction of quality defects
  • Position will be based mostly in hog barns and an office setting
  • Occasionally assisting in carcass evaluations at processing plant

To succeed in this role, you possess:

  • Student currently enrolled in their 2nd to 4th year of Agriculture or Science
  • Basic laboratory experience
  • Livestock handling experience would be an asset
  • Experience in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience in ImageJ or other image processing software would be an asset
