Marketing and PR is a great industry and very popular for new graduates as you can be successful with a mix of analytic and creative skills. There are a plethora of opportunities in digital marketing, advertising, managing brands and public relations (PR).
One side of this industry is a job such as a digital marketing or advertising work towards creating campaigns and strategy using market data, qualitative research and knowledge of the product. To be successful they work well on teams and can build strong relationships with customers. Being a great presenter is integral in a role such as this. It will also sometimes require learning how to use advertising, marketing and CRM tools. To run a successful campaign you must deal with and understand your clients, stay true to core values discussed, and land your campaign on the proper demographic.
Another side to this industry is PR. PR can be broken down into media relations, social media relations, employee relations, integrated market and communications, public affairs and crisis management. Each of these requires a different viewpoint and specializing on how information is perceived and shared. You will be dealing with a lot of individual and company opinions and must be able to balance and analyze them to make the right decisions.
