Journalism & Publishing is an industry based on communication through a variety of mediums. This includes written, verbal and digital platforms. Careers in this industry could involve broadcasting, print, any online mediums, as well as publishing books, magazines and databases. There is a growing trend towards journalism through online platforms and telling stories using different kinds of media. For this reason, there are now graphic designers and content specialists in this field. Some of the typical jobs for new grads also include, junior editors, junior copywriters, production assistants and program assistants. 

Usually this field requires the person to be objective and present information in an unbiased way. However, in some positions it can be your job to try to influence opinion. To be successful you should be very organized, keep records, be able to present ideas clearly, and excel at collecting and deciphering data. You will need to be captivating when communicating and when working with graphics or design and be more on the creative side. 

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Graphic Design or other related fields.
