Overview

Financial services is broadly defined as anything that involves providing a service in the financial world. Even though Investment Banking and Asset Management are within the bracket of financial services by nature, this sector has more roles and services. A lot of financial services provide data, insight and news to their clients so that they can make investment and commercial decisions. There is also the retail, commercial and private banking aspect to financial services, providing consumers with financial services. 

It is important to distinguish between the front, middle and back-office when exploring careers. The front office is the face of the company which includes sales and corporate finance. The middle office manages risk such as fraud and IT resources whereas back office provides the operations which include, administrative support and payment services. 

Education

Bachelor degrees in Economics, Business, Finance or related subjects are considered desirable.

Salary

Financial analyst: $55,000-$60,000

Front office: $50,000-$60,000 with different commission structures for Sales

Middle office: $45,000-$60,000

Back office: $40,000-$45,000
