Successful highway projects connect people, communities, and businesses by balancing transportation needs with client requirements, user benefits, environmental and community concerns. With the final design of thousands of kilometres of highways to our credit, Gannett Fleming’s clients rely on our ability to plan and design highways that serve communities.

Our Toronto office is currently looking for Civil Engineering Co-Op Students to support various transit and roadway projects this summer. Join our team!

As a Gannett Fleming intern or co-op student, you will have the opportunity to work with experienced transportation professionals and assist in providing design services for a wide variety of transportation projects including major transit and roadway projects, bridge rehabilitation and replacement projects.

Working closely with supervisors and mentors, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn how to apply standards for the design of roadways and transit facilities
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations.
  • Design roadway alignments, cross-sections, associated utilities, drainage and other appurtenances.
  • Write technical reports
  • Develop construction plan drawings using Microstation/inRoads design software
  • Develop roadway quantities and construction cost estimates

Education | Experience:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a Civil Engineering B.S. degree program
  • A focus or coursework related to transportation preferred
  • Experience using CADD/Design software (Microstation/inRoads) is a plus
  • Prior roadway engineering related internships or similar experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn is a must
