Job description

Who can apply: To be considered for employment under one of the student employment programs, the student must be:

• A full-time post-secondary student in an accredited institution
• Registered as a full-time student in a recognized institution (College, University, etc.)
• Returning to full-time studies in the next academic term (fall 2021). Proof of full-time student status will be required. The proof of full-time enrollment must include the student’s official name, name of the educational institution and identify clearly the full-time enrollment status. The following are recognized as proof of full-time enrollment: Proof of registration with or without registrar’s seal, proof of tuition, and proof of student status. A list of registered classes is not considered a proof of full-time enrollment. If the proof of full-time status cannot be obtained immediately, students can fill out and submit the Statement of intent to return to full-time studies until proof can be obtained.

Students residing within an 80 kilometre radius of Jasper, AB; this includes Hinton (AB), Mountain Park, (AB), Valemount (BC), who have a legal status to work in Canada. Duties

The Jasper Field Unit is hiring one student to provide support in researching, developing and implementing social media content, and to take photos for social media channels, websites, and promotional items.

This is an opportunity to further expand your creative writing and communication skills, while working with all functions within the Parks Canada Agency researching topics related to conservation, wildlife, nature, species at risk, history and featured activities. Expertise in digital management is also necessary for photography (and potentially video) editing and processing (Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and Premiere Pro).

Work environment

Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

Intent of the process

The results may be used in the future to fill other temporary student vacancies that may arise in the Jasper Field Unit, in various locations, with full or part-time hours for various tenures, depending on status of the selected candidate.

• Experience creating high-quality photos; including post-production and editing;
• Experience in processing and cataloguing images.
