Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Sustainability Intern to support our Impact department in preparing tentree for the next BCorp reporting cycle. Under the guidance of tentree’s sustainability leads, you will identify the areas where the most improvement can be made within the next 6-8 months, develop a plan of action, and support the department leads in executing and delivering. This internship will enable you to acquire a strong understanding of the BCorp business model where purpose and impact are as important as profit. Through the review of the BCorp evaluation and scoring process, you will gain broad knowledge of all key operational areas of a fast-paced, innovative and value-driven enterprise.

What will you be doing?

  • You will familiarize oneself with BCorp, its evaluation processes and tentree’s last BCorp rating.
  • You will assess the areas (in collaboration with the department leads) where the most points can be gained.
  • You will create a plan of action for each area (what data, management strategy, policy, etc.) to implement the necessary changes or improvements which will lead to the additional scoring.
  • You will identify data to be collected and develop methodology to gather such data.
  • You will write or support in the writing of SOPs or management systems to support the ongoing implementation of changes and improvements.
  • You will obtain sign-off from department leads and project lead on the plan(s).
  • You will oversee progress and support in the execution of the plan(s) i.e. gather, analyze and summarize data.

Additional Details:

  • Internship Dates: May 1 to August 28, 2021 (some flexibility in start / end dates)
  • Hours: Full Time (40 hours per week)
  • Location: Vancouver, BC with the ability to work some hours remotely
  • Wage: $15.50 per hour

Requirements

  • You must be available to work from May 2021 to the end of August 2021
  • You must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, or related field at an accredited college or university.
  • You must be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Person who is legally able to work in Canada
  • You must be located in Vancouver, BC
  • Up must have strong analytical and reporting skills
